This Drag-and-Drive Winning Mustang Drops a 7.02 in Testing – Is Ed Ensor Gearing Up for a 6-Second Blast at Sick Week 2025?
After only a few people have entered the 7-second zone naturally aspirated in drag-and-drive events, ‘Fast Eddie’ Ensor definitely opened up the conversation at Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes in 2023.
Completing the week with a 7.53 average, along with a best single pass of 7.46 at 184 mph, Ensor set the record for Naturally Aspirated classes, and 2024 shows he’s coming for more.

Back in April this year, Ensor’s 1985 Ford Mustang known as ‘The Instigator’ dropped an impressive 7.27 at 185 mph with a 1.09 60 foot time during a test session.
Due to work obligations, we didn’t see Ensor at a drag-and-drive event this year, although he did attend the Hotrods by Havliks Fastest Street Car Reunion. There, he picked up the win in the Outlaw 10.5-inch Tire class, despite being the only naturally-aspirated ride in the class.
Ensor and his co-pilot / crew chief Jimmy Lopez have continued pecking away at the combination, trying a bunch of different convertors, gearing and tires. But the 632 cubic inch engine that Ensor has been employing since Sick Summer 2023 has remained the same.
On his most recent outing, Ensor made his first changes to the engine, swapping from a single throttle body intake to a new version with double the air inlets.
Returning to US 131 Motorsports Park and the sticky prep Samuel Peterson is known for, Ensor made a slew of runs, the best being a 7.02 at 191.33 mph with a 1.079 60 foot time!
The car had a best 60 foot of a 1.051, and a best speed of 193 mph on two other runs, but the last run of the evening got Ensor closer than anyone has been to a 6-second pass in Naturally Aspirated drag-and-drive trim.
“We’ve made 120 runs on this engine this year,” said Ensor. “We’re finally finding the sweet spot, and I think there’s more left. Sick Week 2025 might be a possibility; we’re just going to see if it can all line up.”
