After making a solid impression (and several big wheelies) in an 1983 Chevrolet Malibu station wagon during 2022 and 2023, including the 2023 edition of Sick Week, Colin Gee started thinking about a new car build for drag-and-drive duty.

Little did he know that just over a year after he started that build, it would have a blown-up engine, then Colin sold the car, and started on another build just this month!

One of the players in the top three at this year’s Rowdy Radial class at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive was Kolby Bouck, and although his 2017 Mustang showed consistent 5.0-second performance, he has decided to raise his game for the 2025 edition of Sick Week.

After building an exo roll cage for Cleetus McFarland’s Corvette several years ago, it was no surprise that Cameron Johnson was tapped to build Cleetus’ latest race car, a ’69 Chevrolet Camaro known as ‘Eagle.’ Now, Cameron Johnson Race Cars (CJRC) is jumping into the drag-and-drive world with a brand new build of their own.

We first reported on Concho Valley Dragway’s concept in April, and just 34 days after ground-breaking, the track surface had been poured in concrete, and the return road, pit area and staging lanes has also been completed in asphalt.

One year ago, Travis Larson was riding high after attending the inaugural Sick Summer; compiling an 8.56 average to secure the Street Race 275 class win. But just three months later at a race during Labor Day weekend 2023, things took a turn for the worse.

This ‘84 Chevrolet C-10 pick-up debuted on Sick Summer last year, and has since earned a class win and an 8.51 at 155 mph time slip. Is it ready for its next driver at this year’s Sick Summer?

Justin Harvey admitted the amount of street racing around the area had gotten to such a peak, that either a street permit to do something, or building a race track were the likely solutions.

Few details are known about this G-body, but 417 Motorsports stated “our client intends to do many of the drag and drive events with it for the next few years then possibly venture into some heads-up radial races.”
