Colby Davis Re-Claims World’s Quickest Charger Hellcat Record with a 7.35 at 186 MPH Blast
Despite the factory muscle cars wars taking a turn last year, which included the conclusion of the Gen 3 HEMI in production cars, the Charger and Challenger platforms continue to make news in the performance world.
And while the Challenger can sometimes get the lion’s share of the attention on the track, the 4-door Charger is taking its turn now, as the title of world’s quickest Charger Hellcat has changed hands for the second time in just over a week.

At the recently completed TX2K at Texas Motorplex, Zdung Ho posted a 7.488 at 184.15 mph to reset the record for the world’s quickest Charger Hellcat.
“After running the 7.56 in qualifying, the air change for eliminations gives me hope that I could reset the record,” Ho stated before eliminations began.
The tuner from Texas had the record and a runner-up finish in hand from TX2K, but how long would the record last?
Colby Davis, the previous record holder, had re-set the record twice in 2023 with his 2019 edition Charger Hellcat.
The twin-turbo street-legal ride had clocked a 7.53 at 181.25 mph in winning the Battle of the Heavyweights class at the Street Car Braggin Rights event at Carolina Dragway in May, then lowered the e.t. mark to a 7.506 with a new best speed of 184.87 mph at Street Car Takeover at Texas Motorplex in September of 2023.
In February of this year, after the latest round of upgrades and a visit to Nicolas Performance for a tune-up, Davis posted a short dyno clip to his Instagram page showing 2156 rear-wheel-horse-power.
On Thursday, March 21st, the Charger rolled into Montgomery International Dragway for its first passes of 2024, and promptly took the record back, laying down a 7.351 at 186.03 mph, with a 1.176 60 foot time.
Could we see the record dropped even further at this year’s Street Car Braggin Rights in May? Davis is already pre-entered; can anyone stop him from repeating his 2023 victory?
